Ghardaïa

Day 1: GHARDAIA, the mythical city

We will begin our journey by visiting the city of GHARDAIA. You can admire the narrow, stepped streets and stroll through the old market square, which specializes in the sale of traditional art products. Next, we will visit the centuries-old Grand Mosque and the location of the legendary cave refuge of Daïa, the mythical woman who is said to have given the city its name. We will end the day by visiting the folk museum and the AMI SAID cemetery with its semi-subterranean mosque.

Day 2: BENI IZGUEN, the fortified city

Our second day will take us to BENI IZGUEN, a city with a fully safeguarded rampart reinforced with towers. You can attend the auction on the market place, visit the mosque and the Bordj (tower) CHEIKH BELHADJ called "Bordj BOULILA". We will end the day by visiting the city of MELIKA to enjoy the panoramic view of GHARDAIA from the Sidi Aissa cemetery.

Day 3: BOUNOURA, the city at sunset

On the third day, we will discover BOUNOURA, a town built on a rock overlooking the Oued M'ZAB. You can admire the exceptional sunset from a surrounding hill, as well as the interesting specimens of local architecture, including the rampart houses with rounded lines. We will end the day by visiting EL-ATTEUF, the oldest city in the pentapolis, where we can see the market place and the mosque of SIDI BRAHIM.

Day 4: Oasis of METLILI, a tourist attraction

On the fourth day, we will discover the Oasis of METLILI, located 40 km south of GHARDAIA. You can visit the many tombs of saints and the cemetery quite different from that of M'ZAB, as well as the architecture of the mosque and the houses contrasting with the Mozabite cities. We will end the day by visiting the old Ksar of METLILI, classified as a historical monument.

Day 5: GHARDAIA - ZELFANA - Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, we go to the oasis of ZELFANA located east of GHARDAIA and METLILI. This oasis of greenery is characterized by the existence of a famous thermal spring in the region. We spend time exploring the area around the hot spring and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the oasis.

After visiting ZELFANA, we hit the road again to return to the airport for our departure flight.

This 5-day tour to Ghardaia offers a unique opportunity to discover the Pentapolis and the wonders of the oasis. We explored the Mozabite towns of Ghardaia, Beni Isguen, Melika, Bounoura and El-Atteuf and discovered their cultural, historical and architectural heritage. We also visited the tourist sites of the region, such as the Ami Said cemetery, the semi-subterranean mosque, the folk museum and the palm grove of Ghardaia. We ended our trip by exploring the oasis of Zelfana, which is a hidden gem in the area.
