Travel to Algeria: Health Protocol and Requirements
For Algerians abroad, traveling to Algeria is still difficult. After months of complete border closure, travelers faced different restrictions before flight frequency was recently increased.
However, the full reopening of borders, as before the Covid-19 crisis, is still far. Passengers willing to enter Algeria continue to face several complications.
Health protocol for traveling to Algeria: Beware of rumors
In addition to the high ticket cost and lack of communication, the health protocol for traveling to Algeria remains a confusing point for many, especially with the spread of rumors and false information.
On social media, many ask whether the PCR test is mandatory to travel to Algeria. Between countless updates and rumors since the beginning of the pandemic, it is easy to get lost.
Yet, the health protocol for traveling to Algeria has not changed since last March. Although authorities announced a relaxation, no real measures have been implemented.
PCR testing is mandatory for adults who have not been vaccinated for over 9 months. But for children, the situation remains unclear.
Traveling to Algeria: “Does my child need a PCR test?”
Under 12 years old: exempt from both vaccination and PCR test.
Above 12, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated: PCR test within 72h before flight.
Above 12, fully vaccinated within the last 9 months: no PCR needed.
Note: Algeria is listed as orange zone by French health authorities. This means stricter measures upon returning to France compared to travelers from green zone countries.
