Good news for Algerian travelers. While waiting for an increase in international flights, the Algerian authorities have just taken a very important decision: easing the health protocol applied to travelers from abroad.
This announcement was made today, Thursday, March 17, by the Prime Minister through a press release.
From now on, travelers entering Algeria by plane, ferry, or land border are subject to the following health protocol:
Vaccination certificate issued within the last 9 months or
PCR test taken less than 72 hours before departure (compared to the current 48 hours) for unvaccinated travelers.
Most importantly, antigen tests on arrival at airports and seaports have been canceled, according to the government press release, which states that the new health protocol will take effect on Sunday, March 20.
Air Algérie: Towards more international flights?
It should be noted that a vaccination certificate is currently required for maritime crossings. This measure, which came into effect on December 6, has not been extended to cover flights.
This is the first time since the end of last July that the health protocol for flights to Algeria has been eased. The relaxation became possible due to the noticeable improvement in Algeria’s health situation.
This easing, particularly the cancellation of the antigen test upon arrival, will allow for a broader resumption of international flights in the coming days.
It should also be noted that the new Air Algérie flight program, announced on Wednesday, March 9, was canceled. However, another flight program could be launched by the end of March.
