Invitation Letter: Obtaining a Visa for Algeria

Who needs a visa?Regardless of the length or purpose of the stay, a visa is required to enter Algeria. There are four main types of visas:

• Tourist visa

• Family visit visa

Visa exemptions

Nationals of the following countries do not need a visa to enter Algeria: Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Seychelles, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen.

Nationals of the following countries holding a diplomatic passport are exempt from a visa: Argentina, Croatia, France, Hungary, Romania.

Nationals of the following countries holding a diplomatic or service passport are also exempt from a visa: South Africa, Albania, Benin, Brazil, Cuba, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Ethiopia, Greece, Guinea, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Niger, Peru, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Senegal, Slovakia, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, Venezuela, Vietnam.

Conditions for obtaining an Algerian visa

The formalities and required documents may vary depending on the applicant’s country of origin and the type of visa requested. Visa fees also vary from one country to another.

Required documents

Regardless of your nationality and the type of visa requested, you must at least provide the following documents when applying for a visa:

• An invitation letter

• Visa application form

• Passport valid for at least six months

• A copy of the passport page containing personal identity information

• Two recent passport-sized photos

• Proof of insurance covering your stay in Algeria

Depending on the type of visa, additional documents may be required, such as a certificate of accommodation, a mission letter, or a work permit.
