All Travel Procedures in Algeria

Formalities

It is generally mandatory for non-Algerian nationals to obtain a visa to travel to Algeria. This visa is issued by the Algerian Embassy or Consulate in the country of residence.

Visa exemptions:Citizens of the following countries are not required to have a visa to enter Algeria: Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Libya, Yemen, Mali, Malaysia, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Seychelles, Syria.

Procedure for traveling to Algeria:

Step 1: Determine the type of visaThere are several types of visas for Algeria depending on the purpose of travel. Each visa type corresponds to a list of required documents. Ensure you identify the visa type that fits your purpose (examples: tourist visa, family visa, press visa, etc.).

Step 2: Gather the required documents and submit your applicationCollect all documents according to the visa type and submit your application to the Embassy or Consulate. A consular fee applies depending on nationality.

Visa types and required documents:

1. Tourist visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 recent photos, invitation letter or hotel booking.

2. Business visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, mission letter, invitation letter or guarantee.

3. Family visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, proof of kinship.

4. Cultural visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, invitation to cultural/scientific/sporting event, proof of funds.

5. Transit visa: passport >6 months with visa for final destination, form, 2 photos, proof of funds.

6. Study visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, enrollment certificate, proof of financial means.

7. Work visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, employment contract, provisional work permit.

8. Temporary work visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, contract ≤3 months, provisional work permit.

9. Medical visa: passport >6 months, form, 2 photos, medical certificate, coverage of medical costs, hospital agreement, proof of resources.

10. Press visa: passport >6 months, specific press form, 2 photos, media letter, press card, optionally Algerian partner invitation.

11. Diplomatic, service, courtesy visa: special or ordinary passport, form, 2 photos, verbal note.

12. Collective visa: collective passport >6 months, form, 2 photos per traveler, hotel booking, proof of funds, transport ticket.
